Housing Development Competition, Savski Venac, Belgrade

This project was developed as a competition entry for a housing development in Savski Venac, within Belgrade’s historic old town. The site is situated between two embassies and the Rectorate of the Faculty of Applied Arts. It overlooks the Sava River and is adjacent to a well-known public stairway, locally referred to as “The Big Steps,” which holds a strong cultural significance among Belgrade residents.

The primary challenge was to establish an architectural language that responds sensitively to the surrounding 19th-century embassy buildings while retaining the vitality and informality characteristic of Belgrade’s old town. The proposal explores a balance between contextual continuity and contemporary expression, negotiating between monumentality and everyday urban life.

I worked as part of a three-person team, contributing to the development of the design concept, producing floor plans, and creating visualisations for the final competition submission.
